Before you set out to buy something, you need to know what it is. That means make, model and year and VIN if it has one. If you’re one of the lucky ones that has the service manual that matches your machine, the OEM part number is very helpful. Sometimes we need to resort to the old gasket so it can pay to be cautious when disassembling. If it breaks or tears, align the pieces and tape them to a flat piece of corrugated cardboard. Thickness can be important so get a micrometer and measure the squished part. It can also be good planning to gather as much information as possible before starting the tear-down then go on line to see what is in inventory or even place the order.
